Kind Hearts Kindmas

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, or as we like to call it: Kindmas.

Looking for ways to spread kindness this season?

Check out our downloadable reverse advent calendar below with lots of suggestions of how you can focus on kindness – challenge yourself to tick off as many as you can!

We also have a downloadable Kind Hearts Christmas card below you can print out and share!

We are seeing a lot of great kindness initiatives in the lead up to Christmas and here are some we've spotted in and around the Manawatu:

  • FosterHope are collecting for their foster kids.
Any brand new, unwrapped toys or pyjamas suitable for children aged 1-17 years can be dropped into Briscoes on Cuba Street, Palmerston North
  • Women’s Refuge are asking for vouchers this year: supermarkets, petrol stations, the Warehouse etc. This allows their families to purchase the things they want and need, including back to school supplies in the new year. Drop off early, as they like to deliver two weeks before Christmas. Their drop point is 597 Main Street, Palmerston North.
  • Paper Bag presents – Hire a Housewife are asking for brand new toys for kids. They are also looking for business partners to help sponsor their project. Their drop point is: 27a Gladstone St, or Flooring Xtra in Feilding. https://www.facebook.com/paperbagpresentsmanawatu/
  • The Warehouse in Feilding are collecting for women and children in needs. They are asking for new toys, gifts and clothing items and these can dropped into their store.
  • Kmart Wishing Tree – Cash contribution (online or instore) or giving a gift, this appeal runs until 24 December. Salvation Army will share the contributions to those who need some help this time of year.
  • School Start First Impressions want to help their kids turn five in style! They help families relieve some financial pressure by providing a school starter kit to those in need. You can donate to them via their website: http://www.schoolstartfirstimpressions.org.nz/
  • Kit for Kids are collecting summer clothing items, sized 3-12, were required and could include new swimming togs, jandals, sunglasses, sunscreen, hats, towels and gifts of vouchers for the local pool or icecream parlour, at businesses around Palmerston North, Feilding or Bulls. https://www.facebook.com/KitforKidsManawatu/
