‘Acts of kindness warm the heart, soothe the soul, and make the world turn more gently.’
We launched the Kind Hearts for Kids initiative in Palmerston North in July 2014 to support local schools and kindergartens feeding their kids in need. We deliver requested food items weekly. This kindness is our way of engaging our local community to contribute to the potential for our children to thrive.
‘We know that providing our children with enough food has a significant effect on their health and wellbeing as well as their learning and behaviour. In providing the children who need it with adequate food, in an environment that is not judgemental, we have had a drop in the truancy rate and also referrals to our Health Nurse for nutrition related conditions. Having these extra supplies kindly donated to us means that we can use our funds to put towards raising student achievement. We value hugely the support we have been given.’ (Robyn, Principal)
